FAQ

WHAT MAKES US SO DIFFERENT?

ALPINE RESORT NANNIES is a unique and selective introduction agency which allows us to search for the very best of established independent childcare providers  to care for your children whilst you are on holiday. We specialise in Morzine, Les Gets, Châtel in the French Alps as well as other providing services in the UK, rest of France and other selective destinations.

We search for Nannies & Childcarer’s  that are from all walks of life  and invite them to register with us. We look for those that have experience behind them from teaching and assisting in schools, working in nurseries, registered childminding, leading children’s activities in the UK and abroad, sole charge nannying, and some are mothers themselves, the list is endless. They are genuinely committed to the children in their care whilst ensuring the children enjoy a very special holiday experience. ALPINE RESORT NANNIES also provide a continual service from the start of your holiday to the finish and don’t just leave you to it after we match you with your Nanny/Childcarer.

The Nannies & Childcarer’s we allow on to our books are personally vetted and interviewed before being accepted. Acceptance is not guaranteed. We carefully select Nannies & Childcarer’s based on their experience, personalities, qualifications, backgrounds and commitment to providing an excellent service for Families, and providing a magical holiday experience for the children in their care.

We make frequent visits to our Nannies & Childcarer’s in their work place so we can continue to provide a service of excellence.

WHAT ARE THE NANNY TO CHILD RATIOS?

We take Nanny to Child ratios very seriously as the safety and welfare of the children is paramount. From years of experience we know the importance of safely getting around resort with little ones, skis and prams in tow and therefore we look at the ages of the children requiring childcare, the circumstances of your requirements and give you our recommendations.  Usually a Nanny/Childcarer can care for a baby* and older child at the same time or more than two older children but we look at every request in detail and so can vary from booking to booking.

THE LITTLE EXTRAS WE PROVIDE TO CHILDCARE PROVIDERS and FAMILIES…

SUPPORT! We are always on hand to offer advice and information to Families  prior to booking and we offer Nannies & Childcarer’s support all season round.

VALUABLE TIPS! We give all  Nannies & childcarer’s lots of pre-season information as to what to expect when caring for children in a Ski Resort. We advise on equipment they will likely need to have for the various ages of children in their care, and we give ideas on favourite indoor and outdoor activities and the best and safest places around resort to base outdoor fun. We also give Nannies & Childcarer’s tips on how children need to be cared for in this special environment.

A RESORT RECCIE! We give Nannies & Childcarer’s a pre-season recce of the resort so they are familiar with the local free transport system, ski lifts, ski schools etc etc. and what’s the easiest and safest way to ferry children to and from their accommodation to other locations using the local public transport systems. That way, they can be most efficient at getting around with the children.

FRIENDS!! We introduce all our Nannies & Childcarer’s to each other so they make friends and can liaise with each other and organise  outdoor group fun with other children of similar ages. This is a great way for children holidaying alone to make friends and memories and maybe even a pen pal!

DO NANNIES/CHILCARER’S SKI WITH CHILDREN? CAN THEY TEACH MY CHILDREN TO SKI?

NO! So please don’t ask them. Nannies & Childcarer’s are neither qualified or insured to take children out on the pistes, whether it’s simply accompanying or supervising the children or skiing with their Families and assisting with the children. The only method of teaching children to ski is to use a professional ski body with fully qualified ski instructors. See “Our Friends” for our personal recommendations.

WILL/CAN NANNIES & CHILDCARER’S TRANSPORT CHILDREN IN THEIR OWN PRIVATE CARS?

NO! Nannies can use the reliable public transport around resort, go on foot or may be ferried to and from accommodation by accommodation providers in their resort vehicles or by a taxi firm if pre arranged by Families.  Nannies & Childcarer’s are not insured to use their own private cars.

IS LUNCH PROVIDED?

Unfortunately lunch cannot be supplied by your Nanny or Childcarer.  However, Nannies & Childcarer’s are more than happy to prepare any children’s lunches with any food left out for them or purchased by the Family. Nannies & Childcarer’s are also happy to take children to cafes, snack bars and restaurants or out for picnics. We ask that Families leave a kitty for such expenses.

IS THERE ANY FLEXIBILITY ON HOURS/DAYS?

All requests for times and days are relayed by ALPINE RESORT NANNIES to an available Nanny/Childcarer prior to your booking and availability is confirmed beforehand. There may be a little flexibility on hours if you have pre booked full day care but this entirely up to the Nanny/Childcarer you are matched with and dependant on your Nanny’s/Childcarer’s  availability. If you request changes to hours and days prior to or once in resort, it will be solely dependant on the schedule and availability of the Nanny/Childcarer you are matched with and must be arranged directly with them. Again, any specials requests can be made at the time of enquiry.

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE THE CHILDREN ENGAGED IN?

Every Nanny & Childcarer have their own unique itinerary for activities and their own ideas of the most fun way to entertaining your children. We give each Nanny & Childcarer prior to the season a list of tried and tested activities that we have had personal success with or witnessed, and every Nanny/Childcarer also has an opportunity to share their own ideas and successes with each other. We encourage activities such as themed arts and crafts, learning through play, reading to children, cooking, playing games, doing puzzles, outside fun in the snow making snowmen, igloos, snowballs, sliding on sledges, and making the most of local amenities such as the park, little train rides and children’s events laid on by the tourist office. Nannies & childcarer’s are happy to take children on any paid activities such as horse and carriage and carousel rides if requested by Families. There is always lots to do!

DO  NANNIES/CHILDCARER’S SPEAK ENGLISH?

We require all our Nannies & Childcare providers to be fluent in English. Most of our Nannies & Childcarer’s tend to be British that have relocated to the areas we operate in. Many Nannies & Childcarer’s are often recommended to us personally by local families.
