FAQs

WHAT ARE THE NANNY TO CHILD RATIOS?
We take nanny to child ratios very seriously as the safety and welfare of the children is paramount. From years of experience we know the importance of safely getting around resort with little ones, skis and prams in tow and therefore we look at the ages of the children requiring childcare, the itinerary of your requirements, where you are staying etc and give you our recommendations. Usually we have a 1:1 ratio for very young babies and a Nanny can usually care for a baby over 12 months with an older child at the same time or more than two older children depending on ages & again requirements of the family but we look at every request in detail and so can vary from booking to booking to ensure that your children are in the safest care.

IS LUNCH PROVIDED BY YOUR NANNY?
Unfortunately lunch is not supplied by your childcare provider. However, they are more than happy to prepare any children’s lunches with any food left out for them or purchased by the family. They are also happy to take children to cafes, snack bars and restaurants or out for picnics. We ask that families leave a kitty for such expenses and insure that they make us and their nanny aware of any food allergies and intolerances.

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE THE CHILDREN ENGAGED IN?
Every Nanny has their own unique itinerary for activities and their own ideas of the most fun way to entertain your children. We give each child care provider prior to the season a list of tried and tested activities that we have had personal success with or witnessed and they also have an opportunity to share their own ideas and successes with each other. We encourage activities such as themed arts and crafts, learning through play, reading to children, cooking, playing games, doing puzzles, outside fun in the snow making snowmen, igloos, snowballs, sliding on sledges, and making the most of local amenities such as the park, little train rides and children’s events laid on by the tourist office. Your childcare provider is happy to take children on any paid activities such as horse and carriage and carousel rides if requested by families. There is always lots to do!

ARE NANNIES INSURED?
We ask all childcare providers that register with us to ensure that they are sufficiently covered under the appropriate policies for their circumstances. We cannot verify that the cover that they have is sufficient or correct for their own personal circumstances and we assume no liability for this. You may wish to ensure that your own travel insurance provides certain liability cover for your Nanny spending time with you for the duration of your holiday.
DO YOU HAVE A CRECHE?
Unfortunately no. We only offer private Nanny services at your accommodation.

CAN NANNIES SKI WITH CHILDREN? CAN THEY TEACH MY CHILDREN TO SKI?
NO! So please don’t ask them. Our childcare providers are not ski instructors who are neither qualified or insured to take children out on the pistes, whether it’s instruction or simply accompanying or supervising the children or skiing with their families and assisting with the children. The only method of teaching children to ski is to use a professional ski body with fully qualified ski instructors. See “Our Friends” for our personal recommendations.

CAN NANNIES TRANSPORT CHILDREN IN THEIR OWN PRIVATE CARS?
NO! Nannies are mostly dependent on the use of the reliable public transport around resort, go on foot or may be ferried to and from accommodation by accommodation providers in their resort vehicles or by a taxi firm if pre arranged by families. They are not insured to use their own private cars if they have one and this is a responsibility that we cannot ask of them.

IS THERE ANY FLEXIBILITY ON HOURS/DAYS AFTER I’VE BOOKED?
All requests for changes to times and days after booking and before your arrival are taken into consideration and where we can, we will make the changes you’ve requested. However, due to scheduling and availability, this may simply not be possible and we are unable to offer any refunds if you shorten your booked hours or cancel. If during your week you wish to make any alterations, then please approach your Nanny directly and if they are willing and able to, then they may be able to accommodate your request but they are under no obligation to.

ARE NANNIES VETTED?
YES! We vet all the applicants wishing to use our services and work with our families. We interviewing them personally over the internet/phone or in person and have follow up interviews as well as ongoing communication prior to the winter and we demand the following documents;

Copy of Identity – Usually in the form of their Passport/ID card

DO NANNIES SPEAK ENGLISH?
YES! We require all our childcare providers, whatever their native tongue, to be fluent in English. Competence and understanding is assessed during the interview process.

CAN MY NANNY PICK UP FROM SKI SCHOOL?
Yes! Your Nanny can collect your children from ski school and ratios and logistics for this are assessed prior to booking. If however your children’s ski lessons have moved from the original pick up point at any point after booking, your Nanny may not be able to collect or if they do not have a lift pass to cover the area of the alternative pick up point, then you will have to pay and provide a pedestrian lift pass for them to do so. Extra hourly rates may also incur if collection or drop off times exceeds what has been originally booked.
WILL MY NANNY BE ABLE TO PERFORM HOUSEKEEPING & SHOPPING DUTIES?
Generally it is not a service that we offer and not a requirement of a Ski Nanny. If you need any light housekeeping, attending to or laundry of your children and light shopping for supplies, then we can ask your Nanny prior to booking and see if they are happy to oblige. There will most certainly be an increase in the rate expected by your Nanny and we will let you know what that will be.

CAN WE ADD ANOTHER CHILD TO THE BOOKING?
Maybe! Our quoted rates include up to a maximum of two children over the age of 2yrs so if you were adding a second child, there may not be any extra charge but if you were adding a third, then supplements will apply to the rate. If your rate is quoted for one baby under the age of 2yrs and you wish to add another child then, supplementary rates may also apply and ratios will also play a part of whether it is possible to add children to the booking.

CAN MY NANNY BABYSIT IN THE EVENING?
Evening babysitting is a service we most certainly can provide. Penciling in an evening upon booking is advisable and there is a small booking fee for this service. If not pre arranged, then requests can be made after booking or once you have arrived in resort and we can check availability of your Nanny for you. If you have a day Nanny, your evening babysitting service may be delivered by another Nanny if your day Nanny is unavailable or unable to reach your accommodation in the evenings. Babysitting is confirmed once the booking fee has reached us and requests on the day must be paid and confirmed no later than 15.00hrs to allow your Nanny to organise her schedule for you.
