About Les Gets
Nestled by the surrounding slopes of Mont Chery and Chavannes, lies the charming alpine resort of Les Gets. A traditional yet stylish resort with a fabulous warm and friendly feeling and perfect for families. Typically Savoyard, Les Gets is a beautiful village to enjoy skiing as a family and it caters for all abilities. The Les Gets bowl is open and easy to navigate whilst giving impressive views of Mont Blanc from the top of Mont Chery which you can access on foot and from the panoramic viewing platform at the top of the Ranfolly ski piste. Les Gets is perfectly positioned to enjoy that winter sun all day long as you laze on many of the terraces on the snowy slopes.
The old style farmhouses, tree lined slopes and village church, make it an attractive alpine picture postcard. The village has expanded to encompass the popularity of the winter and summer tourism industry providing an incredible choice of accommodation and providing an impressive range of facilities to enjoy your activities and a lovely selection of independent shops for you to choose souvenirs and take a little part of Les Gets back home with you. Les Gets hosts some excellent restaurants serving a diverse choice of cuisine from local and traditional with the perfect alpine ambiance to the more modern and exotic. There are some fabulously cosy and stylish cafes and bars where you can enjoy the lovely local pastries, fresh coffee barista style and nibble on the local cheeses, cold meats and not forgetting, supping on the local tipple.
Family friendly, Les Gets boasts an impressive non-ski entertainment programme. The carousel in the centre of the village sets the ambiance with its traditional mechanical music, which lends to another great family day out to the Les Gets Mechanical Music Museum. There is ice skating in the centre of the village as well as a sledging area right at the bottom of the Chavannes main lift and one at the top as you head just slightly away from the magic carpet area.
If you are visiting over the Christmas weeks, then you must visit Santa’s woodland village and meet all the elves busy getting Christmas organised and throughout the rest of the winter the woods are open to enchanted luminated night time walk which is a wonderful way to spend an evening. The Luge, which opened in summer 2023 is open all winter for ages 8yrs and above, is an impressive 1100m long with a climb of 104m and whizzes down the mountain at a gradient of 14.5% which if you are brave enough can reach up to speeds of 40km per hour! It’s very reasonably priced and you could find yourself there every day with or without the children!
