About Morzine
Morzine is simply beautiful with an amazing melange of traditional alpine chalets with slate roofs and stone foundations that retains the village’s character and Savoyard charm. It keeps the village in touch with its traditional past whilst embracing the 21st century and providing all the services you could wish for on a ski holiday in the Alps. What makes Morzine a great place to visit all year around is what mother nature provides! The spell casting mountains, the snow, the pine trees, the rivers and the climate all rolled up with what the people of Morzine provide, makes Morzine a place you will never want to leave!
Morzine is not just all about the skiing, it is a melting pot for business and it has it all! On the food front, you will have the opportunity to enjoy well established patisseries, fabulous modern cafes, delis & chocolate shops not forgetting the excellent Savoyard restaurants to tempt any palate and finally not forgetting the exciting bars & music events to enjoy your après ski time and evenings. The village shops give opportunity for the children to spend their pocket money in for your to and make your souvenir purchases.
For children, there is plenty to do as a family or with their Nanny. The carousel in the centre of the village sets the ambiance with music and the laughter of children enjoying the ride with the outdoors ice skating rink next to it and frequent activities laid on by the tourist office are also found nearby.
Ice hockey plays a big part in Morzine with the local team called the Penguins. You can watch the matches in the evenings or take the opportunity to ice skate in the huge skating arena. There is a modern indoor swimming pool with a baby area, adventure park, little train, horse and carriage rides and a playroom in the tourist office as well as spectacles laid on over the winter to enjoy.
The Pleney area for skiers has undergone some changes over the years. It now boasts two under cover children friendly magic carpets for learners and the beginner slopes have had small changes to their layout to make it easier to access and more room to roam. The penguin park for children is an exciting little area to have some fun on skis and navigating the obstacles before ringing the bell on exiting.
Several restaurants around the Pleney offer you a choice of where to have a relaxing break whilst taking in the sun on the terraces and people watching as they ski past. You can also access these restaurants on foot using the foot paths from the top of the Pleney lift. Two sledging areas are to be found in Morzine, one at the bottom of the Pleney by the Bouchet drag lift and the other at the top nestled next to one of the magic carpets.
